Power
Bahnson Mechanical Systems’ experience in the power industry dates back to the early 1970s commencing with the provision of HVAC services for Carolina Power & Light Company’s (now Progress Energy) Brunswick Nuclear Station. That was quickly followed by contracts with Duke Power Company for the provision of HVAC services for McGuire Nuclear Station, Units 1 & 2, and Catawba Nuclear Station Units 1 & 2, and miscellaneous services for Oconee Nuclear Station, Units 1 - 3. Subsequent HVAC services were provided for SCE&G’s V. C. Summer Nuclear Station as well as TUSI’s Comanche Peak Nuclear Station. There are currently 104 licensed commercial power reactors in the United States – over one-half of these reactor units have utilized BMS services and/or equipment. BMS has a long history of engineering, fabricating, and supplying both safety and non-safety significant equipment to commercial nuclear generating facilities including air handling units, water coils, filtration units, dampers, etc.
Today, our power experience includes the provision of HVAC and mechanical HVAC services for nuclear (including those important to nuclear safety), fossil, and hydroelectric generating facilities.
We are known by the company we keep, including services provided to the world’s largest EPCM contractors as well as some of the largest U.S. electric utilities. The depth of our experience is characterized by the fact that our revenues from this industry have exceeded $650 million since our entry into this market in the early 1970s.
Commensurate with our first nuclear project, we developed and implemented our quality assurance program which met the requirements of 10CFR50, Appendix B. Our program has been active since inception and has been independently and internally audited during implementation numerous times in the past to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Today, our program meets the requirements of 10CFR50, Appendix B; ANSI N45.2; and NQA-1.
